My First Cake Pops

I agree I am not the best baker in the world nor do I claim to know what I am doing, but today was a good day for baking in this house. I have been wanting to make these glamorous cake pops I've seen everywhere, and asked a few people if it was easy or not.

Well here's my story......

I mixed the cake batter according to directions on box and baked it in two 8" round pans

After cooling for 20 minutes I cut both pieces in half put it into a freezer bag and let it chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Get ready to get dirty.....

Crumble the cake into very small crumbs, its time consuming if you do not have a big mixer but you'll live.

Add frosting to the crumbled cake and mix well, if you do not have a mixer get in there and use those hands to mix it around. Do not add too much frosting and make it gooey.
Roll cake into a ball and place on wax paper on a pan let this chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Start melting the candy melts according to directions and I got the sticks ready. I bought the longer sticks but cut mine in half and it worked out perfectly and I saved money this way!

Dip stick into candy melt and gently push into cake ball. I placed my cake pops into the freezer for 30 minutes just to make sure the candy hardened.

Get those decorations out

This is the "ONLY" hard part I had, was getting the candy melts a little bit more runny so I could dip in the cake pop into it. So I just rubbed it on with a spatula and sprinkled the decorations on. This was my first time doing this kind of thing so I had to make sure they at least tasted good, and I got a two thumbs up kid approved. I did find later this website FAQ on Cake Pops and now I know what I did wrong which was I overheated the candy coating melts. Oh well live and learn, Right?

I found these pops bags at Walmart for under $4.00 with 12 in each bag

So it's not perfect but then again it was my first time and they are for a bunch of 8 year olds who don't care what they look like, but I'll get there......

Color Me Bad

For whatever reason I do not like the smell of crayons, maybe when I was little I fell asleep in a box of crayons I don't know! Being in the same room while a box of crayons is open has always made me short of breath and I start to panic. I learned this when my boys were in the lower grades and had to color for homework, so I would make them color in another room. Honestly I would feel real bad because I could not help them do any projects that involved crayons ....ahhh what's a mom to do?

My family has always made jokes about this matter but what am I supposed to do go to the doctor and tell her "I need help for my crayon panic attacks"?  Really I will for sure get checked into a looney bin!

HAPPY DANCE!!

Finally they came out with Crayola Twistables and it was the best invention I have seen yet. I want to hug the person who came up this idea, it has made this house much more creative!

This Closet Housewife

I'm opening the closet to let you know YES I am a closet "Real Housewives" watcher! My two favorite ones are Orange County and New Jersey, and I have asked myself over and over why do I like watching all this drama? Well, I came to a conclusion that I would rather watch it on TV than have to deal with it in real life as I can always just turn off the TV at anytime and it doesn't affect my personal life.

I have yet too see a new "Real Housewives" out that covers the "Average" middle class family. I'm not sure if it would be just boring or do people like to watch upper class families go crazy on TV? I'm not quite sure of this yet! One more issue I have with this show is once they are divorced as we have all seen it done on TV they are no longer  considered a "Housewife" Right? So I continue to ask myself this why are they still on this show if they are no longer married? Hmmmm...

  • I do not drive a fancy car
  • I do not have a fancy house
  • My husband does not make a ton of money
  • I do not buy high priced name brand clothes or shoes
  • I do not have a clothing line
  • I do not have a cookbook
  • I do not take limousine rides to my friends houses for parties
  • I do not talk about my "Friends" behind their backs
  • I do not invite friends to a party just to stir up some drama (WHO DOES THIS THAT IS SANE?)

  • I do have two nice cars with no payments
  • I do own a nice house in the suburbs
  • My husband makes decent money to pay our bills
  • I do buy my family clothes and shoes on sale
  • I do look up online for new recipes
  • I do load the whole damn family up in the car and drive our happy butts to the parties
  • I do cherish the friendships that I have
  • I do not have friends that have so much drama in their lives!

I will ONLY give full credit to two women on the New Jersey Housewives for being amazing mothers, no names shall be said!

Call it what you want but I am not jealous of their lifestyle as I too live pretty nice.....

Do your chores

Since I became a stay at home mom I quickly realized how dirty we all are, I mean you can clean but when you are staring at the insides of your house every single day it just gets little obnoxious. I have my normal daily chores that I do not that I am told to do by my hubby but if I do not do these chores on a daily basis I will go bananas!

I will admit that I had a maid for 2 years ONLY because I was working a full-time job 55+ hours a week driving 4 hours out of my day and the last thing I wanted to do was come home and clean at 7 at night. Same goes for my hubby who works non-stop to make sure we can make our damn mortgage payment every month.

If you are a stay at home mom you do not need a maid or a nanny, cook whatever! I have met some interesting mom's who are stay at home moms have a daily maid while kids are at school and then have the nanny pick up kids from school. Ummm hello we are not playing Barbie and Ken here who live this fabulous life this is real life people! As a woman if you decide to get married, have children and live in a huge house and a stay at home mom then that's what YOU signed up for. I believe you shouldn't bring in "Help" for the chaos YOU created especially in this situation.

At the end of the day my chores are done and dinner is cooked all done by me, that makes me proud!

My Social Pet Peeve

The most frustrating thing in the world to me is when I follow a Blog on Facebook, they ask questions we answer and ask questions as well and they do not answer back? I personally think it's rude not to interact with your followers.

Twitter hmmm what can I say I like to see what people are posting but how in the world do people have full fledge conversations on there? Sometimes I do not understand what the heck they are saying because there are way too many # signs in the message.

Call me crazy but these things bug the hell out of me in the social media world!

My First Blog

All the excitement on building a blog and I have come to a complete blank
